From Hautelook: Urban Decay's Urban Defense

i received a package from hautelook in the mail. dont you just love getting packages? its very exciting.

the package contained two Urban Decay Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizers in Halo (light) and Bodyguard (medium). when mixed together, i have a perfect color match. urban decay has redone the packaging on their tinted moisturizers- they now come in a squeeze tube. the biggest problem with this packaging was the pump: it is hard to control, and one pump = too much product.

the product description reads:

"seek protection from the urban jungle! loaded with our multi-mineral complex, urban defense battles free radical damage, yet is free of oil, parabens and fragrance. hate fussing with heavy foundation? wear it alone for a light coverage or under powder for a ravishingly polished look. you're ready to multi-task with moisture, sheer coverage, and SPF20, all in one."

SPF20 and oil/paraben/fragrance free. i like it.

the infamous crappy pump

old packaging

top - bodyguard. bottom - halo

i have always liked the idea of using a tinted moisturizer as my everyday base. a quick and easy, natural-looking, light-as-air feeling, easy to blend, hydrating, with SPF, everyday perfect base. its what i have been searching for. the problem, though, with many tinted moisturizers, is the lack of lasting power on combo/oily skin such as mine. and as much as i loved the idea of a tinted moisturizer, every one i tried (with the exception of one favorite- Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer), i did not like the sheerness. i have learned though, with a good primer, a full coverage concealer, and a mineral setting powder, tinted moisturizer CAN work for me as a daily face instead of foundation.

i have worn the urban decay tinted moisturizer using those items along with it for the past few days, and i am enjoying it. this could be my new everyday base!
